Fandom Supports Scarleteen!
[dw community profile] scarleteenfans has been the premier online sexuality resource for young people worldwide since 1998. Countless members of various fandoms have used information from Scarleteen when making fanworks, as well as in our own lives. They were there when we needed them. Now they need us.
Offer or bid on fanworks to support the best sex ed site on the web!

Special thanks to the mods of [lj community profile] help-japan for their organization help!
Thanks to [twitter user] @mopheadf and many others for helping spread the word on twitter.

Note: [dw personal profile] boundbooks informed me that I've apparently been using the official DW icon for this comm and that that could mislead some people... I just thought the red swirl was a general icon that meant "dreamwidth!" *dies of the shame*

So I'm going to change to the green "earth" icon and encourage you to do the same if you've posted this promo anywhere (I updated the html in the text box with the correct icon). And if anyone asks you, no, this isn't an official DW project - just a fan.

I don't think there's an explicit ban on it, but it is the icon reserved for use for official Dreamwidth communities. So, it, uh, comes across as misleading, in that it seems to say that this community is run by the DW staff. :)

Anything with red swirls around it is a DW staff/official thing, such as [staff profile] denise or [site community profile] dw_news. :)

If you want to know which ones are the regular user/community icons, check out your profile:

At the very bottom you'll see a section called 'Linking', which offers two ways to link the community and has an icon: on DW and anywhere with HTML.

A green icon is the default community icon: [community profile] scarleteenfans

If you want to use a different image next to the name that's of your own devising, I don't think anyone will mind, but I really wouldn't suggest using the official red swirl DW icon, because they mean something specific in relation to DW. :)

Oh, thanks for changing it up! I'm just so used to seeing 'red swirl = official announcement/comm' that I figured it might be a wider point of confusion for other people, too. :)

I totally understand about the HTML copy-paste boxes, and I wish you the best of luck with your fundraiser! :)
